It’s been a busy indie author month, and I think this might actually be the most books I’ve read in a single month. Now I know why people love novellas so much. Sadly, it’s not been a roaring month, but at least I’m making my way through the ‘Stuff Your Kindle Day’ backlog of last year.
My high of this month was my five-star read, The Prophecy by Nina Croft, and I absolutely LOVED it. I’m going to start the second book in the Daughters of Morrigan series this coming month.
Now for the low: I hate DNF’ing, but I struggled and finally tapped out of Cursed Dragon at 75%. I hadn’t read a RH book in a while, so I was looking forward to it, but too many things irked me. The writing style was more tell-than-show. The characters had traumatic life experiences, but most of their thoughts felt whiney and childish. Finally, my main problem was the repetition of thoughts and feelings within the same few paragraphs (albeit in different words). It’s a great idea, so I’m certain others have and will find more joy than I did.
