Her Wild Roommate is the first novella in Adele Knight‘s standalone series, Her Sweet Seduction. Ally is stuck in a relationship that very much does not meet her sexual needs, and as a result, she is doubting her own sex appeal. But Liam, her best friend and roommate, on the other hand, is having a very hard time not noticing it. Until one little risqué move has him catching her in an abnormally adventurous action, and who would have guessed that the flaring green eyes that catch hers were exactly what she needed to help push her over the edge?
It took a while for me to warm up to Ally. I was hoping she would realise that the staleness in her relationship with Kyle wasn’t her fault. She is sexy, and watching her doubt herself made me angry and sad. I was so happy that Emily, her female best friend, pushed her to try to wear something bolder, and that act shows her being bolder. Let’s face it, sexier lingerie always has the ability to do that. I was finally hooked when she decided to leave her comfort zone fully, and Liam, oh Liam, with those fiery green eyes, how had she not already crossed that line?
I liked Liam immediately, but I knew straight away that the line between wanting to keep Ally as a friend and desiring more was so blurred for him that it was barely there. Seeing him finally give in, declare his delicious truth, and finally take what he wanted was so enjoyable. I was grinning so much throughout the whole novella; they are so well-suited, and I loved how crossing that line didn’t become awkward, but in fact, it finally made what they had already built together as friends all the more real and wonderful when they finally acted on their desires.
The only thing that prevented me from putting Her Wild Roommate on my list of must-needed re-reads was how long it took for Ally to realise she was not the problem. I was dying for her to stop saying how boring she was and that the staleness in her relationship was her fault when it was clearly her grimy boyfriend, Kyle. When she finally realised it, I was elated, but I just wish it had happened so much sooner. Also, it’s not really a dislike, but from what I understood, the lines were so blurred in Ally and Liam’s friendship. They’ve been acting like a couple this entire time, but they’ve never tried crossing that line sexually. I mean, how many best friends sit on their friend’s lap in a position that lovers use?
I’m rating Her Wild Roommate Four out of Five Stars, only due to my dislike of Ally doubting herself for slightly too long, but nonetheless, I love Ally and Liam together so much! They just fit, and usually, I want to steal the male main character for myself, but Ally can keep him. The spice in this is very nice, but I think it sits at least at a 60/50 ratio for spice to plot. Not that that is a problem; I love a book that’s more spice than plot. I think it’s abundantly clear by now that I love an epilogue, and while I thought Liam’s actions were slightly unnecessary, I was so glad that Adele Knight included the epilogue because it made me chuckle.
This sweet and spicy novella is definitely for over eighteen’s. I’ve binged all of the series, and it just gets spicier and more enjoyable as you go along, so get ready for all the reviews coming up this week. I’d recommend Her Wild Roommate to those who love spice, friends-to-lovers, dumping the dead weight in your life, a woman realising just how sexy she is, a man possessed with jealousy, a slightly dirty mouth, and of course, a HEA. As soon as I finished this novella, I bought the rest of the series and stopped reading the blurbs. Adele Knight is now on my favourite author list! Give this or any other stand-alone in Her Sweet Seduction a go; you won’t regret it.
