REVIEW: Her Filthy Enemy by Adele Knight

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Her Filthy Enemy is the third instalment in the novella standalone series, Her Sweet Seduction, by Adele Knight. Sophie’s life is in order, and her attention is entirely on her studies, completely oblivious to anything around her except how infuriating and annoyingly tempting Noah is. Noah is easy with his lazy, cocky charm and will do anything to create a reaction from Sophie for his own pleasure, especially if it riles her up. But nothing can break the walls between them quite like being snowed in for a day alone, with no buffer to stop them from wringing each other’s necks or… putting their hands to better use.

I immediately connected to Sophie, a shy book nerd who spends far too much time in the library and very little time enjoying her free time. Her spiralling thoughts made me laugh because of how relatable her worries were; both her and my mind were completely in sync. Whose mind wasn’t still in the bathroom? I felt how much she thought she loathed Noah for how much he antagonised her, but in reality, she was just hurt and confused by that feeling because she felt as though she almost wasn’t worthy compared to what he usually surrounded himself with. But it was Noah’s poking that helped her come back to the real world, to finally pay attention to what was happening around her, and I gloried in her shedding that worry, believing in him, and giving into her need to have Noah completely. She really started to relax into the possibility of having more fun and exploring all of her desires. I was so happy to see from the epilogue and bonus epilogue just how sexually demanding, surprisingly cheeky, and a little more like Noah than she had originally thought she could be. I must mention their friends, especially Ava, for adding comedic relief to Sophie’s spiral and Josh for the lovely little push in the right direction. I love helpful side characters.

Noah has joined the book-boyfriend ranks. I loved how shameless and cocky he was, gently provoking Sophie just to savour her reactions. He has been obsessed from the moment he spoke with her, and don’t we just love a smitten, possessive, obsessive, and slightly stalker-ish male main character? It’s not just me, right? I love how he was almost tortured by his need for Sophie and has been trying to make her realise it, but he was also so worried she might actually take him up on what he’s offering, worrying he also wasn’t worthy of her. So you have this tender side, this cocky side, and then this spicy side that makes you want to switch places with Sophie. Noah’s desire to give Sophie everything she may want in her wildest fantasies was so thrilling. I imagine that as a couple, they will never be bored, but Sophie will no doubt be tired. Also, I have to note that I don’t think I’ve ever read a book or novella that has had so much voyeurism and exhibitionism before, and I have to admit I’m a big fan!

Another Five out of Five stars read from the Her Sweet Seduction series. I connected to Sophie immediately. I loved how, despite how focused she was on her studies, she always had enough time for the ire only found in Noah’s presence, and no matter how much he riled her up, she just couldn’t help giving him the reactions he so desperately craved. Noah, with his dirty mouth and perverted ideas, had me so intrigued for the entire novella, wondering what his next move would be and how Sophie would react this time. I honestly loved the entire novella; it somehow had so much spice and so much information on the characters’ mindset and who they were that I was completely invested. Speaking of spice, wow. I don’t want to give anything away, but you don’t have to wait long to be fanning yourself, and the epilogue, bonus epilogue, and bonus scene were everything I didn’t know I needed to see of Sophie and Noah. Her Filthy Enemy is definitely on my reread pile.

As with every book in this series, this is for those over the age of eighteen. This spicy novella is a he falls first, enemies-to-lovers, with a hint of a second chance romance. Noah is sexily arrogant, obsessively possessive, dabbles in stalking, and loves a bit of voyeurism and exhibitionism with zero shame. Sophie is humorous, worries too much, and has no idea of the sexual draw she holds, full of fantasies Noah would do anything to give her, and of course, this novella comes with a very happy HEA. Her Filthy Enemy primarily has male/female scenes but also a snippet of female/female and a short female/female/female scene that are all so good! I hope you fall as much in love with Sophie and Noah as I did, and, of course, with the wonderful spice that Adele Knight writes. I could read endlessly about all the fantasies Noah wants Sophie to explore. My review of the third instalment of this series, Her Seductive Second Chance, is on its way.
